DIAMOND TOPIARY

Of the words I sling onto the page, which ones
stick, which ones flee? Which
shriek, which burn? Which
sing? Which sting?
What works,
breathes
and

lives –

links
arms with
other words, and
dances as one
organic
whole?

A
kind of
topiary, that
cannot grow in
and of itself –
but,
as a seed
grows
in
and
of
the
mind
of

the
hearer –
enduring as a
diamond – slowly showing
new facets to the
persistent
jewelers:
you,
me.
